Having been foiled on more than one occasion in my quest to buy a used Epi 61 ri, I installed a pair of Dragonfire H-90s, P-90s in humbucker cases, in my 04 G-400 vintage. I have been only mildly interested in acquiring another p-90 equipped guitar, until recently. That sense was only heightened, when I started working with a guy who had a 68 335 with pafs. I always felt like they were good for everything, great at nothing kind of pickups. As the former owner of an ES-225, very similar to GT's ES-295, I was in love with the guitar, but never the pickups. I think they're brilliant, Here's what I said on another thread: I've never had a P-90 equipped guitar, and feel like it's the only tone missing from my collection. should I expect the Chinese Issue P90s to sound good? Or plan on replacing them with Gibson models, or is there some aftermarket middle ground, like 'Golden Age' from StewMac? If I only paid $400 for a new Epi Casino, or less for a used one. because I think John Lennon himself was inspired by his Kalamazoo built Epiphone). ( or is that 'Expelled G.A.S.) for an Epiphone Casino, and boasted that I didn't need to spend all the extra cash for an Epiphone Elitist Casino, or for their 'inspired by John Lennon' Casino (which sounds backward to me. But does that only apply to Gibson wound P90s? The fact that Gibson is still making them and issuing guitars with them (that sell) says worlds. Is it possible to screw one of these up? Cheapen them down to anemic worthlessness? They were invented in the forties, and What do you all think of Chinese P-90 pickups? So here's a question for the wise: (or the wise guys)
